PACS 223: Armament and Disarmament
This course analyzes armament and proliferation dynamics and integrates it with the theories of international relations and peace and conflict studies. It investigates why particular weapon categories have gained renewed prominence after the end of the Cold War and how the new threat perceptions affect the security behavior of states. It discusses the rapidly changing security parameters in the light of the events of 2001 and their implications for the future of arms control and disarmament. It helps students understand the debate of armament and disarmament in the complex international system with profound concerns for human security and human wellbeing.
