PACS 324: Advanced Research Methodology

One of the defining characteristics of all the social sciences, including Peace and Conflict Studies, is a commitment to empirical research as the basis for knowledge. In the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS), we offer students a series of two methodology courses that introduces that empirical methodologies used in the discipline. While PACS 213, the first of the two courses, help students acquire the basic understanding of research with particular focus on the logic of doing research, PACS 324, the second and the current course, emphasizes on the nuts and bolts of doing research. The primary focus of the current course (PACS324) is to introduce students with the basic tools required to analyze quantified social and political data.
